Revising the ATD Competency Model
As technology continues to evolve and change, it is important for organizations to stay up to date with new industry standards. One such industry standard is the ATD Competency Model, which was developed in 2000 by the American Technology Development Association (ATD). The model is a framework for describing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for technology professionals.
The ATD Competency Model is composed of six domains: planning, implementing, managing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining. Each domain is composed of a number of subdomains, which are also divided into knowledge areas and skills. To be effective in using technology, employees need to have a mastery of both the general concepts and the specific skills required for each domain and subdomain.
The ATD Competency Model is a framework, not a set of hard and fast rules. Every organization is different, and the model will need to be adapted to fit the specific needs of that organization. However, by using the model as a guide, organizations can ensure that their technology professionals are up to date on the latest industry standards and have the necessary knowledge and skills to be effective in their roles.
