How to Fix a Slow Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 and Windows 11
Microsoft Edge is a popular web browser that comes pre-installed with Windows 10 and 11. While Edge is known for its great features and functionalities, its performance can sometimes slow down, making browsing frustrating and time-consuming. If you are experiencing slow browsing with Microsoft Edge, there are several solutions you can try to fix it.
Here are some ways to fix a slow Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 and Windows 11:
1. Clear the browsing history: Over time, browsing history can build up and slow down your browser. To clear your browsing history, open Edge and press the Ctrl+Shift+Delete buttons simultaneously. Choose the items you want to clear and click Clear now.
2. Disable extensions: Extensions provide additional functionalities to Edge but they can also slow down the browser. To disable extensions, click the three dots located at the top right corner of Edge and select Extensions. Choose the extension you want to disable and click the switch button to turn it off.
3. Disable unnecessary features: There are several features in Edge that you may not need and can slow down the browser. To disable these features, click the three dots and choose Settings. Select System and turn off options like “Continue running background apps when Microsoft Edge is closed” and “Use hardware acceleration when available.”
4. Update Microsoft Edge: Microsoft regularly releases updates for Edge that fix bugs and improve performance. To check for updates, click the three dots and select Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. If an update is available, click Update and wait for the installation process to complete.
5. Reset Microsoft Edge: If the above solutions do not work, you can try resetting Edge to its default settings. To do this, click the three dots and choose Settings. Select Reset settings and click Reset.
