How to Delete a Facebook Account Permanently
Deleting a Facebook account permanently is an irreversible decision, but if you have already made up your mind, then here’s how to go about it.
Step 1: Backup Your Data
Before proceeding with deleting your account, it is essential to backup all the important data, such as photos, videos, and messages from Facebook. You can either download a copy of your data from the Facebook settings or manually save each item to your computer or phone.
To download your Facebook data, go to settings >> your Facebook information >> download your information, and select the data you want to back up. You can choose to download all your data or specific items only.
Step 2: Deactivate Your Account
Once you have backed up all your data, you can deactivate your Facebook account. Deactivation will temporarily freeze your account, and your profile, timeline, photos, and other content will disappear from the platform. However, Facebook will still keep your data on their servers.
To deactivate your account, go to settings >> account ownership and control >> deactivation and deletion, and choose the “deactivate account” option at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Request Permanent Deletion
After deactivating your account, you have 30 days to change your mind and reactivate it. If you are sure about deleting your account permanently, go to this link – https://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account, and request a permanent deletion.
Once you request permanent deletion, Facebook will give you a 30-day grace period before wiping out all your data permanently from their servers. During this time, your account won’t be visible to anyone else on Facebook.
Step 4: Log Out from All Devices
After requesting permanent deletion, make sure to log out from all devices, including phones, tablets, and computers. This will help prevent unwanted access to your account during the deletion process.
Step 5: Wait for Confirmation
After submitting your request, wait for Facebook to confirm that your account has been permanently deleted. This process may take up to 90 days, but you will receive a confirmation email when your account is deleted from the platform.
Deleting your Facebook account permanently can be a liberating experience, especially if you feel overwhelmed by the constant noise and distraction on the platform. However, remember to weigh the pros and cons carefully and make an informed decision based on your needs and preferences.
