How to Change Your Network From Public to Private
Internet connectivity is a necessity these days, whether it’s for personal or professional use. However, with the convenience of being connected to the internet comes the responsibility of making sure that your device is secure. One of the security measurements that you need to take is changing your network type from public to private. In this article, we will share with you the steps on how to change your network from public to private.
Step 1: Open Network & Internet Settings
To change your network type, the first thing you need to do is open the Network & Internet Settings. This can be done by clicking the network icon in the taskbar, selecting Network & Internet Settings from the menu, or by searching for it in the Windows search bar.
Step 2: Click on Wi-Fi or Ethernet
Once you have opened the Network & Internet Settings, the next step is to click on Wi-Fi or Ethernet, depending on your connectivity. If you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, click on Wi-Fi, and if you are connected through an Ethernet cable, click on Ethernet.
Step 3: Click on the Connected Network
After clicking on Wi-Fi or Ethernet, you will see a list of available connections. Click on the one that you are currently connected to.
Step 4: Change Network Profile
Once you have clicked on the connected network, you will see a screen that displays the network name, status, and properties. Scroll down until you see the “Network Profile” section and click on the “Public” button.
Step 5: Choose Private
After clicking on the “Public” button, a drop-down menu will appear. From here, select the “Private” option, and then click on the “Save” button.
