How to Fix Sonic Frontiers Crashing When Going Full-Screen on Windows 11
Sonic Frontiers is an action-adventure video game that was recently released by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game offers immersive gameplay, amazing graphics, and a captivating storyline that keeps you glued to your screen. However, some players are experiencing issues with the game crashing when they try to go full-screen on Windows 11. If you are facing the same problem, there are a few solutions that you can follow to fix it.
- Check if your system meets the minimum requirements
Before you try anything else, make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements to run Sonic Frontiers. To play the game on Windows 11, you need at least an Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD FX-4350 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R9 280 GPU. If your PC falls short of these requirements, the game may crash or not run at all.
- Update your graphics drivers
Outdated graphics drivers can cause many issues when running games, including Sonic Frontiers. To fix this, you should update your graphics drivers to the latest version. You can download the latest drivers directly from the website of your graphics card manufacturer. Once you have downloaded and installed the latest drivers, try playing Sonic Frontiers again in full-screen mode to see if the issue is fixed.
- Disable Full-Screen Optimization
Windows 11 has a feature called Full-Screen Optimization, which may cause Sonic Frontiers to crash when going full screen. To disable it, right-click on the game’s shortcut on your desktop and select Properties. In the Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab and tick the box that says “Disable Full-Screen Optimizations.” Click on Apply and OK to save the changes. Launch the game and see if you can go full screen.
- Disable overlays and other tools
Overlays and other tools such as Steam Overlay, NVIDIA Overlay, and Discord Overlay can also cause Sonic Frontiers to crash. To fix this, try disabling these tools and relaunch the game in full screen. If the issue disappears, then you know that one of these overlays is causing the problem.
- Run the game in Compatibility mode
If all else fails, try running Sonic Frontiers in compatibility mode. To do this, right-click on the game’s shortcut on your desktop and select Properties. In the Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab and tick the box that says “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 7 or Windows 8 from the drop-down menu. Click on Apply and OK to save the changes and try launching the game again.
