How to Enable and Allow Cookies on Mac

Cookies are small pieces of data that websites store on your computer to remember your preferences and settings. On a Mac computer, cookies enable web browsers to store information about your browsing history and login credentials, among other things. However, some websites may require you to enable and allow cookies to access certain features or content. Here’s how to enable and allow cookies on Mac.
Step 1: Open Safari
Safari is the default web browser on Mac computers. To enable cookies on Safari:
1. Click on the Safari icon on your Dock, or open the Applications folder in Finder and double-click on the Safari icon.
2. Navigate to the Safari menu bar and select Preferences.
Step 2: Access Privacy settings
1. Click on the Privacy tab in the Preferences window.
2. Under the Cookies and website data section, select “Always allow.”
3. You can also choose to block cookies by selecting “Always block” or “Allow from websites I visit.”
4. For added security, consider selecting the “Prevent cross-site tracking” option, which blocks third-party cookies that could be used to track your online activity across multiple websites.
Step 3: Customize cookie settings for specific websites
1. To customize cookie settings for specific websites, click on the “Manage Website Data” button.
2. Here, you can view a list of websites that have stored cookies on your Mac.
3. You can choose to remove all cookies by clicking on the “Remove All” button, or select individual websites and click on “Remove” to delete specific cookies.
4. You can also choose to allow or block cookies for individual websites by selecting them from the list and using the drop-down menu to customize settings.
5. Click on “Done” when you’re finished customizing your cookie settings.
Step 4: Enable cookies on other web browsers
If you use a web browser other than Safari, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you’ll need to enable cookies in their settings menus:
1. For Google Chrome, click on the menu icon (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the browser window, select Settings, and then click on “Privacy and security.”
2. Under the “Cookies and other site data” section, select “Allow all cookies.”
3. For Mozilla Firefox, click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner of the browser window, select Options, and then click on “Privacy & Security.”
4. Under the “History” section, select “Use custom settings for history” and make sure the “Accept cookies from websites” box is checked.
Enabling and allowing cookies on your Mac can help enhance your browsing experience and make it easier to access content and features on various websites. Keep in mind that some websites may require you to enable cookies to use certain services, so it’s a good idea to keep your cookie settings up-to-date.
