Java Edition
Step 1: Find a Map
The first step to downloading and installing a Minecraft map is to find a map that you want to play. There are numerous websites that offer custom maps for Minecraft, such as Planet Minecraft and Minecraft Maps.
Step 2: Download the Map
Once you’ve found a map that you want to play, you’ll need to download it onto your computer. Most Minecraft maps are downloaded as .zip files, so you’ll need to extract the contents of the file to a new folder on your computer.
Step 3: Locate Your Minecraft Folder
Next, you’ll need to locate your Minecraft folder on your computer. To do this, open the Minecraft launcher and click on “Launch Options”. From there, click on the profile that you want to install the map to and click on “Game Directory”.
Step 4: Install the Map
Once you’ve located your Minecraft folder, navigate to the “Saves” folder. This is where all of your Minecraft worlds are stored. Simply drag and drop the extracted map folder into the “Saves” folder.
Step 5: Play the Map
Finally, launch Minecraft and select the world that you just installed the map to. The map should load up and you’ll be able to play it like any other Minecraft world.
