How to Change Notification Settings for Individual Text Conversations in Android
As we continue to rely on our smartphones to keep us connected with the people in our lives, it’s important to be able to customize the notifications we receive. While some messages may be urgent and require immediate attention, others can wait until we have a moment to check in. If you’re an Android user, here’s how to change notification settings for individual text conversations:
Step 1: Open your messaging app
First, open your messaging app. This may be called Messages, Messenger, or something else depending on your device.
Step 2: Select the conversation
Next, select the conversation you want to adjust notification settings for. This will open up the conversation thread.
Step 3: Tap on the contact name
Once you’re in the conversation thread, tap on the contact name at the top of the screen.
Step 4: Select “Details” or “Info”
Depending on your device, you may see an option for “Details” or “Info” next to the contact’s name. Tap on this option to access their contact settings.
Step 5: Adjust notification settings
In the contact settings, you should see options to adjust notification settings for this specific conversation. You may be able to turn off notifications entirely, or adjust the notification sound, vibration, or LED light indicator.
Step 6: Save your changes
Once you’ve made your changes, be sure to save them. This may involve hitting the back button, or tapping a “save” button if one is present.
Step 7: Repeat as needed
If you want to adjust notification settings for additional conversations, simply repeat this process for each individual contact.
By taking the time to customize your notification settings, you can make sure important messages get your attention while avoiding unnecessary interruptions. Plus, you can have more control over your device and use it in the way that works best for you.
