How to Apply Background Colors to Tables in Word
Tables are incredibly useful for organizing information in Word documents, but they can also be visually boring. One way to spice up your tables is by applying background colors. In this article, we’ll discuss how to apply background colors to tables in Word.
Step 1: Select the table
First, select the table you want to add a background color to. You can do this by clicking inside the table and then clicking the “Layout” tab that appears in the top toolbar.
Step 2: Choose a background color
Next, select the “Shading” option under the “Table Styles” section of the “Design” tab. From here, you can choose from a variety of pre-set shading colors or create a custom color by selecting “More Colors.”
Step 3: Apply the color to the table
Once you’ve selected a background color, click on the “Apply to Table” option to apply the color to the entire table. If you only want to apply the color to a specific cell or group of cells, select those cells before selecting the “Shading” option.
Step 4: Adjust the shading intensity
By default, Word applies shading at 15% intensity. If you want a more subtle or intense background color, you can adjust the shading intensity by selecting “Shading” again and selecting “Fill” from the drop-down menu. From here, you can adjust the intensity using the slider or by manually entering a percentage.
Step 5: Save the changes
Once you’re happy with the background color of your table, be sure to save the changes. You can do this by clicking “Save” or “Save As” in the top left corner of your screen.
By applying background colors to your tables, you can make your documents more visually appealing and easier to read. With these simple steps, you can add a pop of color to any table in your Word document.
