5 New Interesting Google Forms Features for Teachers
Google Forms is constantly rolling out new updates and features that make it easier for professionals to use their software. Some of the latest updates were particularly significant for teachers who use this program to create surveys, make quizzes, and other essential items for the classroom. If you haven’t been using the Google Suite to develop products for your classroom, there’s never been a better time to start.
You can let these five new Google Forms features convince you that you need to start using this program.
Intelligent Response Validation
Your students won’t be able to just put nonsense into your forms anymore. Google Forms can help you to make sense of the answers students (or their parents) give you. When you put a question on one of your forms, you can specify that the answer needs to contain a website, an email address, or a whole number. You might still get a few prank answers, but it is likely to weed out the ones that are complete nonsense.
Cross-Domain File Uploads
Unless they live on campus, your students are bound to be on a different domain when they access your Google Forms from home. With one of their newest updates, your students can now upload files in response to your questions. This will require both of you to allow cross-domain sharing on your Google Drives, but it is ultimately a very helpful feature to have.
Preferences
Do you send out a lot of forms that have almost identical formatting? With the new preferences feature, you can save a lot of time by applying a set of rules to every new form you create. You can assign quiz point values, choose to collect student emails at the beginning of every document, and more. With just a few clicks of the mouse, you can set up your Google Forms the way you want them forevermore.
Checkbox Grid
Sometimes, you might need to make a checkbox grid on a survey for your class or an upcoming exam. This gives your students the ability to choose multiple options in each category. The most popular way this is used is to collect feedback to determine the best date for a class project or field trip. Students can use the checkbox grid to select the dates and times that work best for them. However, there are likely to be times that this will come in handy while building a new quiz as well.
Section Reordering
You finished your form only to realize that all of the sections are in the wrong order. In the past, you used to be stuck with your mistake unless you wanted to create an entirely new document. With the new section reordering feature, you can now move them around, delete sections, or duplicate parts of your form with greater ease. This allows you to get all of your thoughts down on paper before you try to figure out the logical flow for your next quiz. Even within your sections, you can also use Google Forms to shuffle your question order and your answer choices, allowing you to make multiple versions of an exam.
