The History of iTunes and Its Major Versions
iTunes is an application software created by Apple Inc. It was first released in January 2001 as a music player for Mac operating system. Since its inception, iTunes evolved into a large music and media management software, which is now available for Windows operating system as well.
The History of iTunes
iTunes was first introduced to the world on January 9, 2001, during the Macworld Conference & Expo held in San Francisco. The application was created to be a single platform that would enable users to listen to music on an Apple computer, organize their music collection, and eventually, purchase songs from a digital music store named iTunes Store.
Initially, iTunes was only available for Mac, but in late 2003, Apple released a version that was compatible with Microsoft Windows. This move exponentially increased the user base of iTunes, making it one of the most popular media players available at that time.
Over the years, iTunes continued to evolve, adding new features such as the ability to play videos, create playlists, and a podcasting directory that aggregates and publishes audio content from around the web.
