How to Use Universal Clipboard On Your Mac, iPhone & iPad
As technology advances, the possibilities of what we can do with our devices become seemingly endless. 1. Check Compatibility
Before proceeding, check that all your devices are compatible with Universal Clipboard. It requires at least one macOS Sierra or later device, one iOS 10 or later device, and all devices must be signed in to iCloud using the same Apple ID.
2. Enable Bluetooth & Wi-Fi
Make sure that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on for all your devices.
a. On iPhone and iPad:
i. Go to Settings > Bluetooth
ii. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi
b. On Mac:
i. Click on the Wi-Fi icon on the top right of the screen and ensure it’s turned on.
ii. Click on the Apple icon > System Preferences > Bluetooth and ensure it’s turned on.
3. Ensure Handoff is enabled
Handoff allows you to start a task on one device and finish it on another. Ensure that handoff is enabled for all your devices, in order to use Universal Clipboard.
a. On iPhone and iPad:
i. Go to Settings > General > Handoff
b. On Mac:
i. Click on the Apple icon > System Preferences > General, and ensure Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices is enabled.
4. Copy and paste between devices
Now that everything is set up, you can copy anything on one device and paste it on another. Here’s how:
a. On iPhone or iPad:
i. Select the text, image, or file that you want to copy.
ii. Tap ‘Copy’.
iii. Long-press on the screen and tap ‘Paste’ on your other device.
b. On Mac:
i. Select the text, image, or file that you want to copy.
ii. Right-click and select ‘Copy’.
iii. Right-click on the screen and select ‘Paste’ on your other device.
