How to Use Steps Recorder
If you’ve ever needed to record your actions on a Windows computer to troubleshoot a problem or show someone how to perform a task, you’re in luck. Windows has built-in software called “Steps Recorder” that allows you to create a detailed record of all the actions you take on your computer, complete with screenshots and descriptions. Here’s how to use it:
Step 1: Open Steps Recorder
To open Steps Recorder, press the Windows key + R, type “psr” in the Run dialog box, and press Enter. You can also find Steps Recorder by searching for it in the Start menu.
Step 2: Start Recording
Click the “Start Record” button in the Steps Recorder window to begin recording your actions. Any actions you take on your computer will be captured, along with a screenshot of each step and any comments you make.
Step 3: Perform the Necessary Actions
Perform the actions that you want to record, whether it’s troubleshooting a problem or demonstrating a task. You can also add comments to each step by clicking the “Add Comment” button in the Steps Recorder window.
Step 4: Stop Recording
When you’re done recording your actions, click the “Stop Record” button in the Steps Recorder window. You’ll be prompted to save the recorded steps as a file.
Step 5: Review the Recorded Steps
Open the saved file to review the recorded steps. You can see each individual action you took on your computer, the screenshots of each step, and any comments you added along the way.
