How to Use Split Screen on iPad
Split screen on iPad allows you to work on two apps simultaneously on the same screen. This feature is particularly useful when you need to multitask or compare information from different apps. If you own an iPad running iOS11 or later, here’s how you can use split-screen:
- Open the first app you want to use. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the dock, and then tap and hold on the app icon you want to open. Drag the app to the left or right of the screen until the app dock appears. Release the app to open it in a split screen.
- Open the second app you want to use. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the dock, and then tap and hold on the app icon you want to open. Drag the app to the opposite side of the screen where you already have an app open.
- Resize the split screen. Use the middle black bar between the two apps to adjust the size of each app on the screen. You can also drag and drop content between the two apps.
- Exit split screen. To exit split screen, swipe the divider between the two apps to either side of the screen until one app disappears. Alternatively, you can touch and hold the green full-screen button on the top left of the screen and select “Exit Split View.”
- Switch apps in split-screen mode. To switch the first app in split-screen mode, swipe up slightly from the bottom of the screen and pause to show the app switcher. Tap on the app you want to switch to. To switch the second app, swipe the black bar between the apps to the opposite side of the screen.
