How to Use Sound Check on iPhone and Other Apple Devices
If you are an iPhone or other Apple device user, you may have noticed a feature called Sound Check. This feature is designed to help ensure that all of your music tracks play at a consistent volume level, preventing sudden jumps in volume and potential damage to your ears. Sound Check works by analyzing and adjusting the loudness of your music tracks, so that they all play at a similar level. Here’s how to use Sound Check on your iPhone and other Apple devices.
- Enabling Sound Check
To use Sound Check on your Apple device, you first need to enable it. To do so, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, and scroll down to the Music section. Look for the “Sound Check” option, and toggle it on to enable it. On a Mac, open the iTunes app and go to Preferences, then click on the Playback tab and check the box next to “Sound Check”.
- Adjusting Sound Check settings
After enabling Sound Check, you can customize some of its settings. For instance, you can choose to have Sound Check automatically adjust the volume of all your tracks to be around the same level, or you can choose to have it adjust for quieter tracks. To change these settings, go to the Music section in the Settings app, and tap on “EQ”. Then, select “Late Night” which boosts quieter portions of songs up while keeping the louder parts in check. You can also adjust the EQ settings manually if you prefer.
- Checking Track Volume Levels
If you want to check the volume levels of your music tracks, you can use the “Get Info” function in iTunes or the “Song Info” function on your iOS device. This will bring up a panel that displays the “Volume Adjustment” for the song. You can use this to adjust the volume of individual tracks if necessary.
- Manually Enabling Sound Check
If you want to turn on Sound Check for a specific track or playlist, you can do so manually. On an iOS device, open the Music app and navigate to the track or playlist you want to adjust. Swipe left on the track, and tap “More”, then “Sound Check” and “On”. On a Mac, right-click on the track or playlist and select “Get Info” to bring up the same panel as above.
Using Sound Check on your iPhone or other Apple device is a simple yet powerful way to ensure that your music plays at a consistent volume level. By enabling Sound Check and customizing its settings, you can enjoy your music without worrying about sudden changes in volume or potential damage to your ears.
