How to Use a PS4 Controller on a PS5
The PlayStation 5 is a powerful and user-friendly gaming console that allows players to experience their favorite games on a whole new level. However, for those who are used to playing on a PlayStation 4, switching to a PS5 can take some getting used to. One of the concerns that some players may have is whether they can use their PS4 controller on the PS5. The good news is that it is possible, thanks to Sony being dedicated to backward compatibility.
Here is a guide to help you use your PS4 controller on your PS5 console:
1. Put the PS4 controller into pairing mode:
To use your PS4 controller on your PS5, it needs to be in pairing mode. To do this, press and hold the PlayStation and Share buttons simultaneously for about three seconds until the light bar on the controller starts to flash. This means that the controller is now in pairing mode and ready to be connected to your PS5 console.
2. Turn on your PS5 Console:
Next, you need to turn on your PS5 console. You can either do this by pressing the power button on the console or by using the power button on your PS5 controller.
3. Pair the PS4 controller with the PS5 console:
To pair your PS4 controller with your PS5 console, navigate to the settings menu on your PS5 console using your PS5 controller. Next, go to the Accessories section and select the Bluetooth Accessories option.
Here, you should see the Pair New Device option, click it and you should see a list of available Bluetooth devices. Select your PS4 controller from this list and wait for the console to complete the pairing process. Once the PS4 controller is paired, the light bar on the controller should remain on, and the controller can now be used on your PS5 console.
4. Enjoy your games using your PS4 controller:
With your PS4 controller now connected to your PS5 console, you can now enjoy your favorite games using your PS4 controller. However, it is important to note that certain PS5 games are designed to take full advantage of the new DualSense controller features and may require the use of the DualSense controller.
