How to Unshare a Google Doc
Google Docs is a powerful tool for collaborative work, allowing multiple users to edit and comment on a single document in real-time. While sharing a document with others can be helpful for collaboration, there may come a time when you need to unshare a Google Doc. Maybe you no longer want others to have access to the document, or perhaps you accidentally shared it with the wrong person. Whatever the reason, unsharing a Google Doc is a quick and easy process.
Step 1: Open the Google Doc
The first step is to open the Google Doc that you want to unshare. You can do this by navigating to your Google Drive and locating the document, or by clicking on the link to the document if it was shared with you.
Step 2: Click the ‘Share’ button
Once you have the document open, click on the ‘Share’ button located in the top right corner of the screen. This will open the sharing settings for the document.
Step 3: Click ‘Advanced’
Next, click on the ‘Advanced’ button located in the bottom right corner of the sharing settings pop-up window. This will open advanced sharing options.
Step 4: Locate the person you want to unshare the document with
In the advanced sharing options, locate the person or people that you want to unshare the document with. You can do this by scrolling through the list of people who have access to the document, or by searching for their name using the search bar at the top of the window.
Step 5: Click the ‘X’ next to their name
Once you have located the person or people you want to unshare the document with, click on the ‘X’ next to their name. This will remove their access to the document.
Step 6: Click ‘Save Changes’
Finally, click on the ‘Save Changes’ button located in the bottom right corner of the advanced sharing options window. This will save the changes you made to the document’s sharing settings.
And that’s it! You have successfully unshared a Google Doc. It’s important to note that if you unshare a document with someone, they will no longer be able to access the document or make changes to it. If you want to give them access again in the future, you will need to re-share the document with them.
