How to Put Your PS5 in Rest Mode
As someone who’s finally gotten their hands on a shiny new PS5, you’re probably itching to dive into hours of gaming. But, you can’t play all the time, and it’s necessary to use the rest mode to give your console a break. Rest mode is an important function that puts the PS5 in a low-power state, which helps extend its lifespan and save energy costs. In this article, we’ll discuss how to put your PS5 in rest mode.
First, press and hold the PlayStation button on the DualSense controller. This button is located in the center of the controller. It will bring up the Quick Menu.
Secondly, scroll down to the Power option on the Quick Menu. You’ll see a few options, including “Turn Off PS5” and “Restart PS5”. Look for the “Enter Rest Mode” option.
Next, select “Enter Rest Mode” using the X button on the DualSense controller. You will see a notification in the upper-right corner of the screen, indicating that the console is entering rest mode.
Your PS5 console will now be in rest mode. You’ll notice that the light bar on the front of the console will start flashing orange. Make sure not to unplug the console or turn off the power switch on the back of the console while it’s in rest mode. Doing so might cause data loss, or it may damage your PS5.
To exit rest mode and get back to gaming, you can simply press the PlayStation button on the DualSense controller. This will wake the console up from rest mode and put it back into the game where you left off.
It’s important to note that you can set up automatic rest mode timers in the settings menu. This can be especially beneficial if you tend to forget to turn off your console completely. In the settings menu, go to “Power Saving” then “Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode”. Here, you can set a time for the console to enter rest mode after it’s been idle for a certain amount of time.
