How to Play YouTube Videos on Alexa Devices
YouTube is one of the most popular video-sharing platforms in the world, and with Alexa-enabled smart speakers becoming increasingly common in households, many users are looking for ways to play YouTube videos on their Alexa devices. If you’re one of these users, don’t worry—here’s a guide on how to do just that.
- Enable the YouTube skill
Before you can play YouTube videos on your Alexa devices, you need to enable the YouTube skill. To do this, go to the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet, then select “Skills & Games” from the menu. In the search bar, type “YouTube,” select the YouTube skill, and enable it.
- Link your YouTube account
Once the YouTube skill is enabled, you need to link your YouTube account to your Alexa device. To do this, say “Alexa, open YouTube,” and the Alexa device will prompt you to link your account. Follow the instructions on your screen to link your account. If you don’t have a YouTube account, you can create one for free.
- Play a YouTube video
Now that you’ve enabled the YouTube skill and linked your account, you can play YouTube videos on your Alexa device. Say “Alexa, play on YouTube,” and the device will start playing the video. You can also ask Alexa to play a video by a specific creator, by saying “Alexa, play videos from [creator name] on YouTube.”
- Control playback
Once a video starts playing, you can use voice commands to control playback. Say “Alexa, pause” to pause playback, “Alexa, resume” to resume playback, “Alexa, stop” to stop playback, and “Alexa, rewind [number of seconds]” to rewind the video.
- Cast videos to your Alexa device
If you’re using the YouTube app on your smartphone or tablet, you can cast the video to your Alexa device. To do this, tap the “Cast” button on the app, select your Alexa device from the list, and the video will start playing on your Alexa device.
