How to Play PS4 Games on a PS5 From an External Hard Drive
The PlayStation 5 is the new kid on the block, but it’s not the only one with gaming skills. If you’ve got an external hard drive filled with awesome PlayStation 4 games, you can still play them on your PS5. All you need to do is follow these simple steps:
1. Connect Your External Hard Drive to Your PS5
Assuming that you have external hard drive with compatible storage requirements, the first step is to plug in your external hard drive directly to your PS5 using a USB port. Once it is connected, your PS5 should recognize the hard drive and display it as an external storage option on your home screen.
2. Transfer Your PlayStation 4 Games
Once your external hard drive is connected to your PS5, it’s time to transfer the PS4 games you want to play. To do this, go to the “Settings” option on your home screen, select “Storage,” and then “External Storage.” Once you’re in external storage, click “Copy” to transfer the game data from your external hard drive to your PS5’s internal storage.
3. Play Your Game
After your game transfer is complete, go back to the PS5’s home screen and scroll down to your game library. There you should see the transferred game icon along with your other PS5 games. Simply click on the game you want to play and start gaming.
Notes:
– It’s worth noting that not all games are guaranteed to work this way. Some games might not be fully optimized for the PS5, leading to reduced performance or graphical problems.
– You might also need to update the games to the latest version for them to work on your PS5.
– If you are transferring games that made with PS4 consoles, it is recommended to open a new user profile just for PS4 games to ensure the maximum performance.
