How to Freeze, Unfreeze, and Lock Rows, Columns, and Cells in Microsoft Excel

Freezing Rows and Columns
Freezing rows and columns in Excel is a great way to keep important information always visible while scrolling through the worksheet. To freeze rows and columns, follow these steps:
- Open the Excel document and scroll to the area that you want to freeze.
- Click on the View tab.
- Select Freeze Panes from the dropdown menu.
- Choose whether you want to freeze the top row, first column, or both.
- Excel will insert a horizontal or vertical line to indicate where the freezing begins.
To unfreeze rows and columns, simply navigate back to the Freeze Panes menu and select Unfreeze Panes. This will remove any frozen rows or columns.
Locking Cells
Locking cells in Excel is a way to prevent data in certain cells from being edited accidentally. To lock cells in Excel, follow these steps:
