How to Connect a Surface Laptop to a Monitor
If you’re looking to expand your Surface Laptop’s screen real estate, connecting an external monitor is a great way to go. Here’s how to connect your Surface Laptop to a monitor.
Step 1: Check your ports
Before you get started, make sure you have the right ports on your Surface Laptop and your monitor. The Surface Laptop comes with a USB-C port, while most monitors have an HDMI port. You’ll need an adapter that converts USB-C to HDMI.
Step 2: Get the right adapter
Once you’ve confirmed that you have the proper ports, you’ll need to purchase the appropriate adapter. Microsoft offers a USB-C to HDMI adapter, but there are also third-party options available.
Step 3: Connect the adapter
Once you have your adapter, plug it into the USB-C port on your Surface Laptop. Then, connect one end of an HDMI cable to the adapter and the other end to your monitor’s HDMI port.
Step 4: Adjust display settings
Once you’ve connected your Surface Laptop to the monitor, you’ll need to adjust your display settings. To do this, go to Start > Settings > System > Display. From there, you can choose to duplicate your Surface Laptop’s screen, extend it, or use only the external monitor.
Step 5: Enjoy your expanded screen
That’s it! You can now enjoy your expanded screen real estate on your Surface Laptop. With this setup, you can work on one screen while having reference material or entertainment on the other.
