How to Change Your PlayStation Username on PS4, PS5, and the Web
As a PlayStation user, you may have grown tired of your current username or simply want to switch things up. Luckily, changing your PlayStation username is a straightforward process that can be done on both PS4, PS5, and the web.
Here’s how to do it:
- Go to the PlayStation website and sign in to your account.
- Once you’re logged in, click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
- From the dropdown menu, select “Account Settings.”
- Scroll down to the “PSN Profile” section and click on “Edit.”
- Type in your desired new username and click “Save.”
It’s important to note that once you change your username, you can’t change it again for free. Subsequent changes will cost $9.99 each time, so make sure you pick a name you really like.
If you’d rather change your username on your PS4 or PS5 console, here’s how:
- Turn on your console and log in to your account.
- From the home screen, go to “Settings.”
- Scroll down to “Account Management” and select “Account Information.”
- Choose “Profile.”
- Select “Online ID” and enter your new desired username.
- Follow the prompts to complete the change.
Again, remember that subsequent changes will cost money, so choose your new username carefully. It’s also important to note that some games may not recognize your new username right away or may have restrictions on name changes, so make sure to check with each game before changing your username if you’re an avid gamer.
