How to Change the Default Google Account With Multiple Accounts
With the increasing demand for online services, most people find it necessary to use multiple Google accounts for various purposes. However, unlike other services, Google doesn’t offer users an option to easily switch between different Google accounts. Instead, Google tends to automatically assign a default account to your browser, which can be confusing for users who operate multiple accounts. However, in this article, we’ll explore how to change the default Google account with multiple accounts.
Step 1: Sign out of all Google Accounts
The first thing you need to do when changing your default Google account is to sign out of all Google accounts that you’ve signed in to. To do so, open a Google website like Gmail or Google Drive, click on your profile picture or initials on the top right corner, and then click on “Sign out”.
Step 2: Sign in to the Account You Want to Make Default
After signing out of all your Google accounts, sign in to the Google account you want to use as your default account. Ensure you correctly enter your login credentials and use the same account for other Google services like Google Drive, Google Calendar or Gmail.
Step 3: Clear Browser’s Cache and Cookies
It’s essential to clear your browser’s cache and cookies after you’ve signed in to the account you want to make default. To do so, click on the settings icon at the top right corner of your browser, click on the “Settings” option, go to the “Privacy and Security” tab and click on “Clear Browsing Data”. Select “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files, then click clear data”.
Step 4: Sign-in to Your Other Google Accounts
Once you’ve cleared your browser’s cache and cookies, go to a Google website and sign in to the other accounts that you want to use simultaneously.
Step 5: Use the Extension or Add-on
After you’ve signed in to your Google accounts, you’ll need to use an extension or add-on to change your default Google account. If you’re using the Google Chrome browser, you can download the “Sign out multiple accounts” or “Sign-out helper” extension to enable you to switch between different accounts quickly.
If you’re using Mozilla Firefox, you can download an add-on such as “CookieSwap” or “Multifox”. These extensions allow you to switch between different Google accounts.
Step 6: Change Your Default Account
After installing the extension, refresh the Google website you’re currently using. Then click on the extension icon and select the account you want to set as your default account. After selecting it, refresh the Google site again.
