How to Change the Default Download Folder in Google Chrome
If you’re a frequent user of Google Chrome, you may have noticed that by default, any file that you download using the browser is saved to the Downloads folder in your computer. However, there may be instances where you want to change this default folder to something else. Maybe you’d like to keep your downloads organized, or you want to save files to a specific folder for easier access. Whatever your reason may be, it’s easy to change the default download folder in Google Chrome. Here’s how:
Step 1: Open the Chrome Browser
Begin by opening the Google Chrome web browser on your computer. This can be done by double-clicking on the Chrome icon on your desktop or by searching for it in the Start menu or applications folder.
Step 2: Access Chrome Settings
Once you have the Chrome browser open, look for the three-dot icon located on the top-right corner of the screen. Click on this icon to bring up a drop-down menu. From the menu, select “Settings”.
Step 3: Scroll Down to the Advanced Section
Find the “Advanced” section by scrolling to the bottom of the “Settings” window. Click on the small arrow button next to the “Advanced” section to expand it.
Step 4: Locate the Downloads Section
Under the “Advanced” section, find the “Downloads” subsection. This is where you’ll be able to change the default download location in Chrome.
Step 5: Change the Download Folder Location
To change the default download folder in Chrome, click on the “Change” button located next to “Location”. This will open up a new window where you can select a folder to save your downloads to.
Browse through your computer’s folders until you find the one you want to use as the new default download folder for Google Chrome. Once you find the folder you want, click on it, and then click on the “Select Folder” button. This will set the new download location in Chrome.
Step 6: Close the Chrome Settings Window
After you’ve selected the new default download folder for Chrome, go ahead and close the “Settings” window by clicking the “X” button located on the top-right corner of the window. Your new download location is now set, and any files you download using Chrome will be saved to this folder by default.
