How to Block Movies, Shows From a Kid’s Netflix Profile
As a parent, it is crucial to ensure that your children are watching age-appropriate content on streaming platforms like Netflix. By taking advantage of Netflix’s parental control features, you can block specific movies or shows from appearing in your kid’s profile. In this article, we will guide you through the process of blocking movies and shows from a child’s Netflix profile.
Step 1: Log into your Netflix account
Open the Netflix website or app and sign in using your email address and password. Make sure you are signing in with the correct account that has administrative control.
Step 2: Access the account settings
Click on your profile picture icon located at the top right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear – select ‘Account.’
Step 3: Access the parental controls settings
Scroll down to the ‘Profile & Parental Controls’ section and locate your kid’s profile. Click on the arrow next to their name to display additional options.
Underneath their profile, click on ‘Viewing Restrictions.’
Step 4: Set up a PIN for parental controls
Enter your Netflix password when prompted to access this area. Create and input a four-digit PIN code which you will use for making changes to viewing restrictions or any other parental control settings in the future. You’ll use this PIN whenever you want to modify these settings or when enabling mature content on other devices.
Step 5: Block specific content
Under ‘Title Restrictions,’ there is a search box where you can type in movie or show titles directly. Type the name of the movie or show you wish to block and hit enter. Netflix will then display matching titles based on your search query.
Once you find the title you want to block, click on it – this will add it to a list of restricted content for that specific profile.
Step 6: Review and apply changes
Ensure that the titles you want to block are listed in the ‘Title Restrictions’ section. Click ‘Save’ to apply these settings.
Besides blocking specific titles, you can also set age restrictions for content your child can access by selecting the appropriate maturity level in the ‘Allowed TV shows and movies’ section. This will limit content exposure automatically based on age ratings.
By following these simple steps, you can effectively control what type of content your child is exposed to on their Netflix profile. Setting up parental controls is an essential step in ensuring your kid’s online viewing experience remains safe and age-appropriate.
