How to Add a Second Person’s Face to Face ID on Your iPhone
Face ID is a great feature that Apple introduced with the iPhone X. It allows you to unlock your phone using your face, which is more secure and convenient than entering a passcode. But what happens if you want to add a second person’s face to Face ID? Maybe you share your phone with your significant other, or you need to grant access to a family member. Whatever the reason, it’s easy to add a second person’s face to Face ID on your iPhone. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open Settings
The first step is to open the Settings app on your iPhone. You can find it on your home screen or by using the Spotlight search feature. Once you’ve opened the app, scroll down and select “Face ID & Passcode”.
Step 2: Enter Your Passcode
To access the Face ID settings, you’ll need to enter your passcode. This is the same code you use to unlock your phone if Face ID fails or if you’re restarting your phone. Enter your passcode and then tap on “Set Up an Alternate Appearance”.
Step 3: Have the Second Person Set Up Face ID
Now it’s time to have the second person set up Face ID. They should hold the iPhone up to their face and position their face within the frame of the camera. When prompted, they should move their head in a circle so that Face ID can capture their face from all angles.
Tip: Make sure the second person removes any hats, glasses, or other accessories that could interfere with the Face ID scan.
Step 4: Repeat the Process
Once the second person has set up Face ID, they should hand the phone back to you so that you can repeat the process. You’ll need to position your face within the camera frame and move your head in a circle so that Face ID can capture your face from all angles.
Step 5: Confirm the Settings
After both faces have been captured, you’ll see a message that says “Face ID is now set up”. You can tap on “Done” to exit the settings, or you can choose to set up a passcode as well. If you do set up a passcode, you’ll need to enter it every time you unlock your phone.
Step 6: Test It Out
Now that both faces have been added to Face ID, it’s time to test it out. Lock your phone and then hold it up to either face to see if it unlocks. If it works, you’re good to go!
