Formula 1 vs. Formula E: Which Is Faster?
Two of the most popular motorsports in the world are Formula One (F1) and Formula E (FE). F1 is the oldest racing championship, established in 1950, while FE is relatively new, starting in 2014. While both sports have their fanbase, there’s no denying that F1 has been the more popular one in terms of viewership and participation. However, with the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology, that might change soon. Today, we’ll be comparing the two and see which one is faster.
To understand the differences between F1 and FE, we need to understand their cars. F1 cars have a 1.6-litre V6 turbocharged engine combined with two hybrid systems. The first system uses heat to convert energy, and the second system uses the kinetic energy generated by brakes to convert energy. This gives it a top speed of up to 225 miles per hour (362 km/h).
On the other hand, FE cars are powered by electric motors powered by a rechargeable battery. Due to the limitations of electric cars, they can only reach a top speed of up to 174 mph (280 km/h).
So, in terms of pure speed, F1 cars are faster than FE cars. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that F1 is better than FE. There are advantages and disadvantages in both cases, and it all boils down to the preferences of the viewers.
For one, F1 is arguably more exciting than FE because of the high speed and the thrill of watching drivers maneuver their cars through challenging tracks. Furthermore, the sound of the engine adds to the excitement, creating a more immersive experience for the viewers.
On the other hand, FE is better in terms of sustainability and environmental friendliness. Electric vehicles produce zero emissions, making them better for the environment. Additionally, FE races have a relatively short track length, which is better for urban environments, where air pollution is a major problem.
