An Easy Way to Help Clean Up Your iPad’s Messy Home Screen
A cluttered home screen on your iPad can get in the way of productivity and make the device less enjoyable to use. With apps, folders, and widgets scattered all over, finding the right app when you need it becomes a tiresome chore. Thankfully, there is an easy way to help clean up your iPad’s messy home screen and restore order.
Step 1: Evaluate and Delete Unnecessary Apps
The first step in cleaning up your iPad’s home screen is to evaluate the apps you have installed. Do you really need that game you haven’t played in months or the travel app from your vacation two years ago? Go through each app on your home screen and delete any that you no longer use or need.
To delete an app:
1. Press and hold the app icon until a menu appears.
2. Select ‘Delete App.’
3. Confirm by tapping ‘Delete.’
Step 2: Organize Apps into Folders
Once you’ve removed unnecessary apps, it’s time to organize the remaining apps into categories based on their purpose or function. Create folders for categories like entertainment, productivity, games, and more.
To create a folder:
1. Tap and hold one of the apps you’d like to include in the folder until it starts wiggling.
2. Drag the app on top of another related app.
3. The folder will be created automatically, and you can rename it as desired.
4. Continue dragging other related apps into the newly created folder.
Step 3: Arrange Folders on Your Home Screen
After organizing your apps into folders, arrange these folders on your home screen according to how often you access them.
To move folders:
1. Tap and hold a folder until it starts wiggling.
2. Drag it to the desired location on your home screen.
3. Release it where you want it to stay, and it will snap into place.
Step 4: Utilize the App Library
iPadOS 15 introduced the App Library, a feature that automatically organizes your apps and allows you to hide pages with less frequently used apps from your home screen. To access the App Library, swipe left from your last home screen page.
To hide home screen pages:
1. Press and hold any empty space on your home screen until apps start wiggling.
2. Tap the pagination dots at the bottom of the screen.
3. Uncheck the pages you want to hide and tap ‘Done.’
By following these steps, you will achieve a cleaner and more manageable iPad home screen. This organized setup will save time, improve productivity, and make your overall iPad experience more enjoyable.
