AirDrop Not Working? Fix It Fast With These Tips
AirDrop is a popular feature that allows you to share files between Apple devices with ease. However, sometimes AirDrop may not work as expected, and this can be frustrating. If you are experiencing AirDrop issues, here are some tips to help you fix it fast:
1. Check your device compatibility
Before trying to fix AirDrop, it’s essential to ensure that both devices are compatible with the feature. AirDrop requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with iOS 7 or later, and a Mac running OS X Yosemite or later. If your device is compatible, move on to the next step.
2. Make sure both devices have AirDrop turned on
Both devices must have AirDrop turned on to enable file sharing. On an iOS device, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the Control Center, press and hold the network settings card, and tap on “AirDrop.” Choose “Everyone” to allow any nearby device to see and send files.
On a Mac, open Finder and click on “AirDrop” in the left sidebar. If AirDrop is turned off, click on “Tab to turn on AirDrop” and choose “Everyone.”
3. Ensure both devices are close by
AirDrop uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to enable file sharing between devices. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure that both devices are within range of each other. Make sure the two devices are no more than 30 feet apart.
4. Reset your network settings
If AirDrop still fails to work, you can try resetting your network settings. Go to “Settings > General > Reset” on your iOS device and choose “Reset Network Settings.” On your Mac, go to “System Preferences > Network,” click on the “Advanced” button, and choose “Reset Wi-Fi.” This will reset your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings, and you will need to set them up again.
5. Turn off and on AirDrop
If none of the above solutions work, try turning AirDrop off and on again. On an iOS device, turn off AirDrop, wait for a few seconds, and turn it back on. On a Mac, click on “AirDrop” in Finder and choose “Turn off AirDrop.” Wait for a few seconds and turn it back on.
