Ask educators everywhere what is the one thing that they wish they had more of and they will say “time”.  We decided to help them out by compiling a list of 9 time-saving apps for teachers.

1. Edmodo: Edmodo is a learning management system that can be used to connect with students, parents, and colleagues. You can use Edmodo to facilitate discussions, make class announcements, share resources, and post and grade assignments and quizzes. Edmodo even allows you to search for and use quality educational content from around the web.
2. NearPod: NearPod allows you to create interactive PowerPoint lectures that can be pushed out to student devices. Interactive elements include polls, quizzes, drawing activities, fill-in-the-blank, and open-ended questions. You can also add 3D objects in your lessons and take students on virtual field trips. As students respond to questions, you’ll see the results on your own screen, providing you with on-the-spot student data.
3. Google Classroom: Learning management systems like Google Classroom can help you conduct most of your classroom tasks in one convenient location. Through Google Classroom, you can make announcements, administer quizzes or surveys, and assign and grade classwork and homework. Classroom is integrated with other Google apps like Google Docs, which automatically saves student work and allows students to collaborate on assignments. Using apps like Google Classroom can help you stay organized and reduce management issues like student forgetfulness and lost papers.
4. Classkick: Classkick is an iPad app that allows the teacher to see all of the students’ screens as they are working on a problem. Teachers who are in the classroom can use this data to tailor the help they give students. Teachers who are online can use the data to complete curated blog posts for the class based on where students are having trouble and can set-up individual help sessions with students.
5. Evernote: Is an easy platform for organizing notes, webpages, PDF files, and emails all in one accessible spot. It syncs easily across all your devices so that you can keep your great ideas and to-do lists with you at all times.
6. Google Calendar: This app effortlessly combines your calendar, email, documents, and reminders all in one accessible place. Schedule routine events, like dance class and soccer practice, along with lists of “to-dos” for each one. You can also create your own events and invite people with ease.
7. Board Builder: Board Builder acts like a digital poster board that allows teachers and students to begin with a blank canvas and personalize presentations. Customize backgrounds, add imagery, video clips, documents, change fonts, and tie everything together with built-in color schemes that keep slides both engaging and aesthetically pleasing.
8. Emaze: With everything that teachers have on their plates – from lesson plans to addressing behavioral problems to making sure struggling students receive extra help – it’s understandable that there’s little time left to customize every presentation. Emaze is an easy, user-friendly presentation app that allows creators to plug in lesson information and aesthetic preferences and watch as built-in templates take over. Choose from learning aids, 3D imagery, transitions, and presentation formats that look professionally crafted. The software is also cloud-based, so Emaze presentations can be edited from any device online.
9. Educreations: In the same video vein, Educreations is an interactive white board that captures a teacher’s voice and handwriting to create shareable video lessons. Educreations is perfect for struggling students who like going through the material with teachers one-on-one, but still, need refreshers after the review session ends. Educreations records the session and lets students replay the video afterward to review every detail of their personalized instruction.
